I also decided this week to resume our weekly CSA subscription starting next quarter. The CSA seems to be the best value (and quality) compared to Abundant Harvest and Harvest Fresh from GPDB. The CSA also saves us more time because everything is already packaged for us. While I applaud GPDB and AHO for not using plastic in their packaging, I still have not quite found a good alternative for plastic to keep produce fresh in the fridge. A few people have suggested organic muslin bags, which I'd like to look into further sometime next year. I have also enjoyed shopping at the farmer's market for things we need outside of the deliveries.

MEAL PLANS
Salad: lettuce, spring mix Snacks: all fruit except lemons Smoothie: oranges, one green (either dandelion greens or kale) Veggies to cook: chard, eggplant, one other green (whichever one doesn't get used up in the smoothie), hard squash, parsley (or chop and freeze for future use) Idea #1: chard, eggplant, hard squash, my mom's in town and made a Filipino dish called pinakbet with it. We added tofu for protein.
Idea #2: pumpkin chili (add kale or dandelion greens) - ended up using the kale

SHOPPING LIST
Not a whole lot to buy this week because we aren't hosting Thanksgiving, but we will still stop by the farmer's market for eggs and fruit. |
What actually happened:
We stuck with the meal plan!
