Sunscreen

Recipe: Sunscreen
Adapted From: Keeper of the Home
Tested:  5/22/2014
Servings:   1 1/2 cups    Prep Time:  10-15 min
Notes: We used to love Loving Naturals, but since they are on hiatus, have resorted to another DIY project!   This is SPF 30, but it's still a good idea to reapply every 1-2 hours or getting wet.
The original recipe used shea butter, which we may try next time. We also might try carrot seed oil and raspberry seed oil to increase the SPF and non nano zinc.
We stored this in three To-Go Ware Side Kicks.

Note: We tried with shea butter and the consistency was very gritty. I probably did not blend enough. We like using grapeseed oil for easier application.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. beeswax granules/pastilles (about 3/8 cup)
3/8 cup sunflower oil (3 oz)
3/8 cup coconut oil (3 oz.)
3/4 cup grapeseed oil (6 oz.)

6 Tbsp. zinc oxide powder (3 oz.)
Instructions:
1. Add all ingredients except zinc oxide to a glass bowl, then set this on top of a pot filled with about an inch of water.
2. Heat the water to boiling, then stir the ingredients until the beeswax melts.
3. Carefully move the bowl from the top of the pot, then add the zinc oxide, taking care not to inhale the powder.
4. Use a stick blender to blend the zinc oxide in until smooth.
5. Pour mixture into desire containers.
